The Department of Agroecology at Aarhus University, Denmark, is offering a position as academic employee in the field of agricultural climate mitigation and adaptation measures starting 01-06-2024 or as soon as possible thereafter. The position will be available for a 4-month period.

You will be part of a university environment focusing on the green transition in agriculture to bring down greenhouse gas emissions from crop and animal production and increase biodiversity and agricultural resilience to climate change. You will be contributing specifically to the area of agroforestry and new crop management practices with less environmental NO3, CO2 and N2O footprint. The focus of your position will be coordination of measurements and data acquisition in field experiments and organizing materials for promoting and execution of some of our educational activities at AU-Viborg as well as abroad.

We expect that you will collect, handle, and analyze measurement data with due care.  We also expect that you will be an integral part of the research and educational environment and that you will contribute positively to the social working environment.

Your profile

We are searching for a highly motivated candidate who has:

  • A master’s degree in biology, agricultural science or similar
  • Collaborative skills and ability to participate actively in teams
  • A fondness of taking the initiative and the motivation to pursue a scientific career
  • Documented experience in data handling and reporting scientific data
Further, we will prefer candidates with some of the following qualifications:
  • A broad educational background including subjects such as botany, plant physiology, statistics, and climate change related topics
  • Experience in planning and conducting field-work
  • Experience in planning and conducting laboratory work

At the Department of Agroecology, our vision is to contribute with solutions to the challenge of food production and the zero hunger sustainable development goal within the areas of soil, plant, and animal science, in a world already facing the consequences of climate change. We want to make a difference by contributing to both fundamental knowledge generation and the attainment of sustainable production systems via innovative research, contracted policy advice, and education.
