Science and Technology, Aarhus University Foulum, invites applications for a permanent Academic Employee position at the Department of Agroecology starting on 1 Maj 2022.


Research area


The qualified candidate will be part of a team which conducts and disseminates research on soil physical, chemical and hydrological processes in an agricultural context. The research provides quantitative insight into the spatial distribution of soil characteristics on local, regional and national scales. The research goals focus on sustainable land management practices for protecting soil quality and minimising undesired impacts on the environment.

The relevant candidate will be required to set up and conduct both laboratory and field experiments on soil-related processes. A significant part of the daily work will involve handling and analysing of big datasets obtained from different research projects. You will be part of the Soil Physics and Hydropedology section interacting strongly with both junior and senior scientists. The group is very important in national and international research collaboration and coordinates several large experimental facilities and research projects in Denmark.


Required qualifications


We seek a committed person, who possesses the following professional and personal qualifications:

  • MSc or PhD degree in agroecology, agronomy, environmental engineering or similar
  • Technical expertise in setting-up and conducting laboratory and field experiments
  • Experience in handling large datasets, including data collection, analysis, and interpretation of information related to soil processes
  • Ability to develop research projects, conceptualize ideas and formulate hypotheses
  • Experience with the acquisition and maintenance of research equipment
  • High collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively in diverse, multidisciplinary research teams

We are looking for an open-minded person with advanced communication skills, capable of contributing to a positive and productive working environment.




Who we are


At the Department of Agroecology, our main goal is to contribute to sustainable solutions to some of the world’s biggest problems within the areas of soil, plants, animals, humans, and the environment. We want to make a difference by contributing to both fundamental knowledge generation and the attainment of sustainable production systems via innovative research, contracted policy advice, and education. We offer professional laboratories, greenhouses, semi-field, and field-scale research facilities, advanced computing capacities as well as an extensive national and international researcher network.  The department consists of eight research sections with around 320 highly dedicated employees, of which approximately 50% are scientific staff.
