Department of Animal and Veterinary Sciences, Aarhus University, offers a 3-year postdoc position starting on 1 November 2023 or soon thereafter.

We seek a candidate with a strong background in animal science, biology or veterinary science. The candidate should have focus and interest in applied cell biology and mammary gland physiology in dairy cattle.

Furthermore, the candidate must have experience in designing and conducting in vitro cell biology studies, including experimental collection of mammary tissue from cows.

The candidate should have a strong track-record in establishing cell cultures from tissue from animals, including passaging and real-time measurement of cell growth.

The candidate must have good collaborative and English communication skills. The candidate will be part of an active and dynamic research group, which is internationally recognized for its research in cell and lactation physiology.

To support the development of the research area, the candidate is expected to contribute to attract external funding within this area of research. The postdoc will participate in knowledge exchange with public authority service and industry, as well as teaching and supervision at bachelor, master, and PhD levels in animal and veterinary sciences.


Qualifications for a postdoc position


  • Academic qualifications at PhD level in animal science
  • Significant skills in scientific communication of research results
  • For non-Scandinavian candidates an effort to learn to read, write, and speak Danish is a requirement.

The place of work is the Department of Animal and Veterinary Sciences, AU Viborg, Blichers Allé 20, DK-8830 Tjele, and the area of employment is Aarhus University (AU) with related departments. 


Deadline

Application procedure

Shortlisting is used. This means that after the deadline for applications – and with the assistance from the assessment committee chairman, and the appointment committee if necessary, – the head of department selects the candidates to be evaluated. All applicants will be notified whether or not their applications have been sent to an expert assessment committee for evaluation. The selected applicants will be informed about the composition of the committee, and each applicant is given the opportunity to comment on the part of the assessment that concerns him/her self. Once the recruitment process is completed a final letter of rejection is sent to the deselected applicants.


Letter of reference

Formalities and salary range


Technical Sciences refers to the Ministerial Order on the Appointment of Academic Staff at Danish Universities under the Danish Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation.

The application must be in English and include a curriculum vitae, degree certificate, a complete list of publications, a statement of future research plans and information about research activities, teaching portfolio and verified information on previous teaching experience (if any). Appointment shall be in accordance with the collective labour agreement between the Danish Ministry of Taxation and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. Salary depends on seniority as agreed between the Danish Ministry of Taxation and the Confederation of Professional Associations.
