At the Department of Animal and Veterinary Sciences, Aarhus University, a position as research assistant is available from 1 April 2024 or as soon as possible thereafter.
Are you interested in animal welfare and infection control? In two international projects, we have the interesting tasks of mapping infection control and animal welfare in the production chain. We offer a challenging job in a dynamic research environment that uses management and modelling as tools to meet the challenges of the future. The position, which provides great opportunities for professional development, particularly includes research in the interaction between animal health and welfare, environment and management.
Job content
- Collection of data in livestock on infection control
- Identify how animal welfare is included in self-control programmes
- Analyse the extent to which, and within what framework, producers and organisations will share information
- Contribute to publication and other relevant communication
Qualifications
Upon occupation of the position, emphasis will be placed on:
- Relevant Master's degree, preferably veterinarian, from university, preferably with an interest in animal welfare and infection control in livestock production
- Ability within and interest in teamwork and interdisciplinary collaboration – also internationally
- Ability within and interest in research continued in a PhD degree programme or as a postdoc at the department

Salary and terms of employment
Salary and terms of employment in accordance with current agreement for academics employed by the state and in accordance with circular on the job structure for academic staff with research tasks at universities.

Application procedure
Short-listing is used. This means that after the deadline for applications – and with the assistance from the assessment committee chairman, and the assessment committee if necessary, – the head of department selects the candidates to be evaluated. The selection is made on the basis of an assessment of who of the candidates are most relevant considering the requirements of the advertisement. All applicants will be notified within 6 weeks whether or not their applications have been sent to an expert assessment committee for evaluation. The selected applicants will be informed about the composition of the committee and will receive his/her assessment. Once the recruitment process is completed a final letter of rejection is sent to the deselected applicants.
Letter of reference

Formalities and salary range
Natural Sciences refers to the Ministerial Order on the Appointment of Academic Staff at Danish Universities under the Danish Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation.
The application must be in English and include a curriculum vitae, degree certificate, a complete list of publications, a statement of future research plans and information about research activities, teaching portfolio and verified information on previous teaching experience (if any). Appointment shall be in accordance with the collective labour agreement between the Danish Ministry of Taxation and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. Salary depends on seniority as agreed between the Danish Ministry of Taxation and the Confederation of Professional Associations.
