Department of Animal and Veterinary Sciences (ANIVET), Aarhus University, invites applicants for a position as international project manager. The position is a fixed-term position for a minimum of 4 years with starting date on 1 January 2024 or soon thereafter.

The position as international project manager at our department will be divided between an EU project and project support to project leaders in our department.

The position will have specific tasks related to the European Partnership for Animal Health and Welfare (EUP AH&W). EUP AH&W consists of more than 90 participants including 56 Research Performing Organizations and plans to run for ten years from 2024-2033. EUP AH&W will start implementing an internal program by initiating 17 joint internal projects (JIP’s) over 3 years from January 2024.

The internal program is managed by the Work Package 3 – Joint initiatives and integration (WP3). A core group consisting of Aarhus University, INRAE and ANSES (both from France), Wageningen Research (from the Netherlands) and University of Copenhagen will conduct the Work Package 3 tasks in collaboration with the Joint Internal Projects. WP3 is led by Professor Jan Tind Sørensen, Aarhus University (AU), and AU has a major responsibility for the WP3 tasks. The candidate will be part of a multidisciplinary international team (The core group including a scientific program manager from AU).

Job Description
The tasks of the project manager (PM) in relation to EUP AH&W are to support the WP3 leader:

  • Monitor the progress of the Joint Internal Projects (JIP’s).
  • Ensure that the annual report is received timely and that the content reflects the expected activities including the deliverables and milestones.
  • Review the technical quality of the JIP’s contributions to annual work programs.
  • Assist the Joint Internal Project leaders in managing the budget and the necessary administration in collaboration with the Coordinator Support Office at Ghent University, Belgium
  • Align the in-kind budgets for the AU contributions to Joint Internal Projects in collaboration with an economy officer at AU.
  • Provide the WP3 core group with an overview of JIP meetings and manage relevant SharePoint folders.

The tasks as project manager supporting scientific staff at ANIVET will include:
  • Support to management of larger scientific projects
  • Support to fundraising activities
  • Administration of collaboration agreements at ANIVET
  • Planning and minutes from research project meetings
  • Management of project websites
  • Support to grant holders in reporting from projects
  • Support to communication activities

Your profile
We imagine that you have:
An academic degree in biological science (e.g., animal science, veterinary science or similar).
Acquired project management experience from university or academia or from industry research and development.
Experience from managing larger projects preferably within an international consortium will be considered an advantage.

Who we are
The mission of Department of Animal and Veterinary Sciences is to perform basic, strategic, and applied research and innovation within the department’s core activities. The activities make up the science-based foundation of ANIVET's teaching, public sector consultancy and collaboration with business and industry.
