The Department of Agroecology at Aarhus University, Denmark, is offering a postdoctoral position in the combined field of agriculture and solar energy, agrovoltaic, starting 01-10-2023 or as soon as possible thereafter. The position will be available for a 3-year period.
You will be part of a research environment focusing on combining agriculture and photovoltaics, to explore the effects of solar panels on crop production. Emphasis will be on the potential synergy and the role of such systems in the green transition. You will be contributing to specifically the area of crop production and micro-meteorology between the solar panels.
The main focus of your position will be to quantify the effects of the solar panels and their configuration on micro-meteorology and on productivity of different plant species as well as on soil carbon and nitrate leaching. Land Equivalent Ratio of different set-ups with and without PV-panels has to be calculated, and use of all crop residues for biorefining and for biogas will be tested. You will work experimentally with already established field experiments including a pilot demonstration site with both conventional fixed tilt and vertical solar panels with different crops.
We expect that you will be an important part of the research environment and that you will contribute positively to the social working environment. We also expect that you will take part in our teaching activities and that you will report research results in high-impact scientific journals.
