Department of Animal and Veterinary Sciences, Aarhus University, offers a 3-year postdoc position starting on 1 January 2024, or soon thereafter.

The position shall strengthen the department’s research towards implementing novel technologies in animal welfare assessment.

Examples are the use of bioacoustics that in combination with other physiological and behavioural indicators has great potential to enhance the understanding of the mental state of animals including signs of stress, pain and diseases. Such methods could be applied as remote and non-invasive monitoring tools to assess animal welfare, e.g., during painful procedures and during transition into unconscious states (such as killing, anaesthesia).

The candidate must have a strong research profile within animal behaviour, stress and welfare and preferable have experience with pig production and the use of technologies for assessing animal response.

The candidate must have good collaborative and English communication skills.

The candidate will be part of an active and dynamic research group, which is internationally recognized for its research in animal welfare.

To support the development of the research area, the candidate is expected to contribute to attract external funding within this area of research. The postdoc will participate in knowledge exchange with public authority service and industry, as well as teaching and supervision at bachelor and master students.

Once the recruitment process is completed a final letter of rejection is sent to the deselected applicants.
