BEMÆRK: Ansøgningsfristen er overskredet

How can we accelerate the green transition of European agri-food systems?

Within primary production, agroecology has been identified as a promising approach in European research initiatives. Participatory research and knowledge co-creation in multi-stakeholder forums (engaging farmers, civil society organizations, research, advisory services, authorities, and policy) is considered an important means to develop, document and accelerate the adoption of agroecological production practices. Living labs and associated open innovation arrangements are envisaged as useful participatory research and innovation platforms.

We are looking for a postdoc who is interested in improving our understanding of the dynamics of the green transition in open innovation arrangements, with particular attention to the role of knowledge systems and co-creation of knowledge. This entails investigations into policy-level barriers and enabling conditions for the green transition, as well as the development of methodological aspects associated with the design and facilitation of participatory research across diverse European contexts. The position is available for a 4-year-period from 1 April 2024 or as soon as possible thereafter.

Your research will focus on:

  • Analyzing the social, political, and institutional barriers and opportunities that influence European agricultural knowledge and innovation system (AKIS) capacities and agroecology transition.
  • Developing approaches for strengthening the capacities of stakeholders to support and implement user-driven, co-created open innovation in various agri-food systems (conventional, organic, regenerative etc.).
You will be part of the 7-year European partnership ‘AGROECOLOGY’ that commences January 2024. See here.

You will collaborate with European researchers and practitioners in a comprehensive multidisciplinary environment to assess and advance our understanding of the foundations for the green transition. You will primarily apply various qualitative techniques.

Qualifications:

We are looking for a candidate with:
  • A PhD in human geography, human ecology, agroecology, rural sociology, rural development, political science, anthropology, or a related discipline/topic
  • Knowledge of the European rural context and EU projects
  • Experience with (systems) analysis, data processing and management based on qualitative and quantitative data, case studies and comparative studies. Experience with interviews, focus groups and surveys
  • High collaborative skills: most work will be carried out as teamwork in transdisciplinary and cross-cultural contexts
  • Documented experience in scientific writing: publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals
The position entails frequent travel within Europe.

You will be part of a research group at the Department of Agroecology that works at the interface between science, technology and society with respect to agri-food systems. We work broadly with the social, political, technical and organizational foundations for the green transition. We expect that you will be an important part of the research environment and that you will contribute positively to the social working environment. We also expect that you will be willing to take part in teaching activities and that you will publish in high-impact scientific journals.
